Today Katie’s of Smithtown is a popular bar, but in the late 19th century the land on which Katie’s stands belonged to a hospital. That hospital burned to the ground in 1909. In the 1920s a newly constructed facility is said to have operated as a speakeasy during Prohibition; a man named Charlie Klein worked there as both a bartender and bootlegger before eventually killing himself.
Now the spirits of those who perished there are said to still inhabit Katie’s. Guests have seen figures dressed in late 19th century clothing wander the bar, and the figure of a woman has been seen walking about the bar or up and down the basement stairs. Women have reported toilet seats jumping open and making banging sound when no one else was in the bathroom, and footsteps can be heard on the main bar floor from the basement when the building is others unoccupied. Glasses have also been seen flying off the bar and tables. Email Haunt

I have to admit that prior to watching the above-mentioned I had no knowledge of the place. But I saw your place featured on either home town horror or something like that. I will never forget that particular segment where the owner felt himself being physically attacked by an unseen entity that seemed to be trying to kill him. When he threatened the entity "The second I die, I'M COMING FOR YOU!!!" cracked me up. I couldn't stop laughing when he said that everything stopped once he said that. I only know of only one other person like that. Both about as fearless as they come.
