Kings Park Psychiatric Center Reviews

My Dad moved to Kings Park in 1966 and my Aunt worked in Building 93 in the 70s. I first walked the grounds and explored a few buildings in 2011 that would later be demolished a year later. I had a really bad paranormal experience in July 2013 with my ex GF. Long story short, she started feeling negative energy and me being a bit of a skeptic, began taunting the spirits! A very BAD IDEA! I couldn't go there for a good several years afterwards. I didn't go back till summer 2017 and since then I've explored literally every building, and tunnel except power plant to 93. I wish I could've experienced tunneling from Quads to 93 via steam tunnel junction. (Tunnel junction was demolished in August 2012). I pretty much know EVERYTHING about KPPC. Lots of memories exploring every ward, every floor of every building. Blasting music on full volume looking for anything that's left. If you can't find any signs in the buildings, you can blame me. :p. Trolling the park maintenance and park police was always fun too. Tunnels were useful for escaping! They didn't take Penjabi too lightly. In terms of other paranormal experiences, I have a list. But to keep it short, I've heard whispers, footsteps when I was alone, doors slamming on their own, heard tapping on a door behind me, children laughing next to me, I've seen shadow figures, intense feelings of being watched, followed, and feelings of anger, sadness and terror. I had a spirit follow me home once in 2018. It was scary. Be careful when you go there and don't f*ck around with the paranormal. It'll f*ck with you right back. Throughout the years chillin there, I went alone 98% of the times. You get used to it after a while. It used to be super easy to get into any building, and there was literally 8 or 9 ways out. Now, in 2025, good luck with that! They patrol and seal an entrance up so fast! Its like the OG years in the 2000s all over again, except now the buildings are in such depilated shape. The asbestos dust in there is so bad now. Definitely wear a respirator mask with P100 filters! I mean, to be honest, we're all gonna get cancer from this one day. RIP. At least, it was fun hanging out with friends at Kings Park! BBQs and pizza parties on the roofs was a blast! Its gonna be so heartbreaking when those buildings get demolished. It'll be like a piece of your memories being destroyed. One day, there'll be people wishing they got to explore KPPC and I'll be telling them my stories and showing them pictures and videos. At least, there'll be those to look back on. Kings Park will always be a special place for me, and many others who love the history. A great book to read about KPPC is called: "Kings Park Psychiatric Center: A journey through History" volumes 1-3 by Jason Medina. I can go on and on for hours but enough for now.

Always drive through there as a shortcut and stuff but on 2 occasions I’ve seen the local teens either doing drugs or trying to get into the buildings, which is illegal. Additionally there have been a ton of fires there in food warehouses or other outbuildings. If you do go, the gang/drug activity is definitely worse after you cross over St. Johnland road. I would stick to the buildings on the part of KP boulevard that is between main street and st johnland

Went to KP probably in 2015-16... did not see or experience anything while at the main building. My friends and I were met by 2 men who seemed familiar with the place and asked us if we needed help getting to the first building so we followed them and they successfully brought us there. Once there our two teams split up and we began making our way through the building. We did remove a radiator from the 13th floor and had thrown it down the stairs as well as some other disrespectful thing we shouldn't''t have, but as young teenagers in high school we were reckless. The next morning I had woken up to having both of my legs SEVERLY bruised. Although I did not feel any pain, my legs were black and blue and remained bruised for almost 3 weeks. This experience has made me a believer ever since...

We went there few times, our 3rd time we saw a van and ppl coming out of it then a cop pulled them over, another time there were flashes coming right at us from the top floor. Ppl have seen dead bodies in there and ppl got drugged and raped in there. We are not lying. We were excited to go. Bring a glock with you if you do enter the building. Please do not go there for your safety we advise you.

So literally TODAY me and my two friends went to kings park and we’re chilling by the morgue building. We were in the courtyard chilling until we heard a strange crew king noise. Mind u it was NOT a windy day at all it hot and the wind was stagnant. We look up and see two doors open at the same time. The two doors by the balconies. The middle one stayed shut. Then we were walking through the old patient house ward and doors kept creeping open and rattling noises and footsteps. It was honestly terrifying and we dipped so fast. I’ve visited three times before and never had anything remotely paranormal happen.Crazy day

So about a month or two ago I decided to go back for my 4th exploration. I went into building 7 first and traversed to the roof then made my way down to a random floor when all of a sudden after entering the hallway and (mind you this was on a clear day no winds, rain, etc) all the doors just started opening and slamming shut. Now I don't really believe in paranormal but that was enough to tell me it was paranormal and I felt a very bad feeling that the spirits were not happy. I then proceed to walk to 93(13 floor building) and hear as I was walking up to the top footsteps(I was sure I was alone in the building) and I thought I saw in the the corner of my eye a person in the dark and I called out and then it disappeared.
after finishing up that I walked to the power plant and met with another group of people. we entered inside and I could swear I thought I heard voices above me on the catwalk. later we went to the laundry building and one of the guys decided to be funny and yell "BIRDMAN!" few minutes later a police car comes flying in as we were exiting and long story short cop told me both me and the guy would have been arrested had they not bought a third person and the cop told me if he ever sees me again entering any of the buildings I would be taken in to custody for trespassing and could face a very hefty fine. this cop was not having it and seemed very rude and careless as he flew down the path after that at what seemed like 30 miles.

A few years back, I went to check out the psych center with two other friends who I will call J and A. We were inside building 93 aka the 13 story building. We were exploring from the top to bottom. We were walking down the stair case. We were on the seventh floor when I heard a whispering but I disnt think anything of it because I thought it was A whispering to J until A turned around and asked if I was whispering to her. I told her that I thought they were whispering together because it sounded like it was right infront of me. They began to panic and wanted to leave but I wanted to learn more. We ended up leaving the building and walking around another smaller building where we heard and caught on camera the sound of a squeaky door opening. This was kind of sketchy but I dont think that it is just the psych center that is haunted. I have had other paranormal experiences a couple miles away at smaller state parks such as Aurther Kuntz, and I found those experiences more sketchy than inside or around the psych center. Just be careful going inside the buildings or being there at night. I was caught twice but islts only a $50 dollar fine for first time offenders.

These places are somewhere you probably shouldn’t go. I had been in there with a friend and had another group lit a fire, acting completely hostile. I heard a man screaming for his mother, he ran up to the the roof where we where, and shouted something inaudible from just out of sight when I said, TURN BACK, and as quick as the came they left. We where able to leave safely. There was another time I tried to go in alone but I heard people and left. Today it was empty and pretty quiet despite the winds. Not gonna lie just before I left I questioned for a second my own judgement regarding directions. I’m happy I made it out.

Me and a few friends snuck in back in probably around 2005, it was late at night and we walked around for what seemed like a short amount of time but really ended up being like 2 hours, while we were in there we heard noises and saw a car come up the driveway which ended up being an apparition because we asked our 2 friends who stayed outside and they said they never saw a car come up the driveway, then as we went upstairs we went through a door and walked around checking out the kitchen and dining area and other spots and we left the door open but when we came back it was locked and we had to find another way out and after that we said we gotta leave and eventually found an open window close to the bottom and climbed out and went back to the car, it was an exciting experience but damn close to getting trapped in there until we found the window, never made it through the tunnels but maybe it wasn’t a good idea, didn’t wanna end up trapped like in the movies but the couple hours we were in there was definitely an experience, definitely had paranormal activity but without equipment we weren’t certain but the noises and the ghost car pulling up definitely gave us a positive feeling that the place was haunted, it was fun but we had to leave!!

I used to conduct hobby based paranormal investigations and I have been to some very eerie, supposedly haunted and otherwise old and forgotten places such as haunted cemeteries, buildings, UFO incident sites all over the east coast U.S.
Well everytime I went to Kings Park I would go at dusk when it was very dark and I felt that I could only then truly potentially find paranormal evidence there. It was me and a girl who went there together I had the intentions to take photographs and conduct an EVP session there and also walk the grounds some more. As soon as we pulled up and I turned the car engine off we both stepped out and made our way toward the building probably about 200ft or so and approaching. The night and the atmosphere was pitch black and I remember how it almost felt like we were walking with our eyes closed anyway....not to long after we were walking we both heard a very loud noise and it was the rattling, rustling and slamming of a door but also it sounded as if it was a combination of chain link fence being slammed against by something large something huge and also we heard what sounded exactly like footsteps but from some kind of very large animal or person and I mean the footsteps were loud thuds and it sounded like something was heading towards us but in that kind of darkness we saw not a thing so we immediately freaked out and ran as fast as we could back to the car and I cannot tell you how fast I kicked rocks out of that place I have never been back not even during daylight. My advice to everyone is be very very careful there and never go alone go in atleast a group of 6 people and have items to protect yourselves with and have a plan to escape too! because I strongly doubt I would be writing this rightnow had it not been for that split moment decision to make a run for it.

I went there in the middle of the night with a group of friends. We decided to sneak into building 93 (biggest one). The experience was amazing being able to explore the entire building up until the top floor. It seemed very haunting and we even brought an Ouija board to see what we could find. But, I don't think anyone had a paranormal experience while at the building. But, it was still worth it for us to go through all the rooms and floors and seeing what has happened in the building. The problem with this place is that it seems fully closed out, except for the most perfect couple of spots, which I believe the cops have set up. This is because when leaving through where we entered, a couple cops were waiting for us and we got caught. They were nice though and gave us no problems, except for a ticket, which is nothing compared to what we expected when we got caught. All in all, the experience is amazing! Just make sure to be quiet in the building and not flash light out the building, which could be how we got caught.

Two friends of mine and I had went there about 5 years ago now. We were walking around to the front of the building, cant remember its number, its the one with the neighborhood behind it. While walking to the front of the building, keep in mind the only light we have is moonlight, I look to my left and see the side of the building right next to the entrance and its pitch black. Next thing I know the shadow expands and another shadow shoots out, zooming right in front of the three of us. It stops for a second and then shoots right into the bushes to our right. This shadow was moving at about 30 to 40 mph and was able to displace the air around us. This shadow was also huge probably about 7 or 8 feet tall. We immediately ran back in the direction we came from. I wouldn't necessarily recommend going there as there is a lot of drug activity and from what ive heard gang activity. My friend did some research and came to the conclusion what we had encountered was a wendigo. I however know a little bit of native American folklore and stated if that was a wendigo, we wouldnt be alive to even be discussing this. Whatever it was though it did not seem very friendly, there was almost a sense of malicious intent behind this experience. Dont recommend going.

About six years ago, one of my friend recommended to visit kings park psychiatrist center. We reached there sometime after 2 A.M. we found a cops car is parked there. Since I have researched earlier it's trespassing to be there, I got out of the car and walked up to the officer. I told him that I'm lost and how do I get to my destination. When we talk to someone, we try to have an eye contact, correct? But I was not able to locate his eyes. But I didn't take it seriously since there's different kinds of light and stuff, I have just ignored it. Officer told me to make the left at the first light and I will be on the way. But I wasn't able to make the turn. Then I made a U turn and made a right turn. And I found the same police car in front of me. We entered the highway at the same time. About the same speed. His car suddenly just vanished away from our sight. There was no exit, not place to park or hide. He wasn't just there anymore

October 2018

I have gone here hundreds of times before. For the most part nothing happened at least in the beginning. I was there with my professional camera and while trying to take a picture of a stairwell my camera was glitchy. So I stepped back and went to try again, this time when the flash went off, in that split second some man screamed at me with a lot of anger. There was no one there. I went home and looked at my photos and found in that specific picture an orb in the far bottom dark part of the picture. They were all over my photos. I go back a month or so later to celebrate my birthday. I had a feeling to walk out into the hallway and I was alone. As I’m walking I hear someone running towards me. The noise gets louder as if they were running at me and there was no one there. I stood there as it came closer and closer and when it got about an arm length away, the running stopped and I was hit with a huge gust of freezing cold air. It was like someone had ran right through me. I tried to communicate with this entity but nothing else had happened. About a few weeks following this extremely weird experience I went back and I had a lighter explode into hundreds of pieces. I had a feeling in my chest like I was not alone. People tell stories but to have three separate experiences myself I know that there are souls left inside those buildings and they are not the friendly kind.
