Fort Hill Cemetery
Montauk, NY 11954
Located at what is now The Plaza in Montauk, this cemetery was once believed to be a place of spiritual activity by the Montaukette Indians; according to locals, the Fort Hill Cemetery remains a hotbed for the otherworldly.
The spirit of a Montaukette chief is said to still roam the land, sometimes visiting Montauk Manor, and if you listen carefully you can hear the faint beating of drums. Some of Teddy Roosevelt’s Rough Riders died of disease nearby, and their spirits are believed to roam the land as well.
