The Twilight Pumpkin Spectacular
The Nassau County Museum of Art is planning a blockbuster event that will be a one of a kind experience for audiences across Long Island and New York.
From October 25th through October 28, 2007, The Twilight Pumpkin Spectacular will transform NCMA’s vast grounds into a dark and mysterious showcase for a dazzling display of over 3,000 hand-carved, illuminated jack o’ lanterns. Complete with spooky music and sound effects, the Museum’s expansive landscape will be the backdrop for montages and tableaus of hand carved pumpkins, arranged by themes ranging from traditional Halloween scenes to ornate lattice designs.
Like any other sculpture installation at NCMA, these jack o’ lanterns will be integrated with the natural landscape of the grounds, becoming a temporary addition to the Outdoor Sculpture Garden. No other event of this caliber exists on Long Island or in the five boroughs.
Over one mile of swirling paths will immerse visitors in the spectacle, sure to delight all the senses. Adding to the enchantment will be several fun features:
Spooky Circle
A designated area for children complete with special lighting effects and a storyteller offering creative, spine-chilling tales for all ages. The Spooky Circle will also feature segments by an expert from the Teddy Roosevelt Bird Sanctuary presenting educational and entertaining demonstrations with owls, hawks and more.
Gift Shop
Located in the Museum’s own semi-permanent tent, the fall themed gift shop will carry a wide assortment of inexpensive gifts for the home, plus books and accessories for children…you are sure to “fall” in love with some special treasure here.
The Sweet Outdoors
This refreshment stand will be serving up lots of your favorites like jelly apples, pumpkin pie, hot chocolate, warm apple cider, cakes, cookies and much more.
